We all know it may take up to roll out, but according to everything we’ve seen thus far this upgrade is an update that is broad that is big. We requested information companies that track the search results of Google to send us opinions of this update and all of them agree, this is among the largest Google core updates in a long time.

The truth. What we know from Google, is that the May 2020 core update began to roll out around 3:50 pm ET on Monday, May 4th. This is an update and wasn’t specific to language, any region or category of internet sites. It is a classic”broad core update” that Google releases every couple of months or so.

Previous updates. The most recent past core update was that the January 2020 core update. The one prior to that was that the September 2019 core upgrade. That update felt weaker to many SEOs and webmasters, as many said it didn’t have as large of an effect as preceding core upgrades.

This May 2020 update. This one is big. We obtained data and they show that this upgrade was very large and substantial — and is rolling out.

RankRanger. Mordy Oberstein from RankRanger called the May upgrade “an absolute monster.” “The January update was a really big update however this one marginally edges out it,” he added. Moz. Moz has its own Mozcast instrument that tracks updates by temperature and it’s showing some insane heights of heat the past few days: 103 degrees on May 4th and 112 degrees on May 5th.

Dr Pete Meyers out of Moz told me that this May core upgrade was the”second-highest Core Update on MozCast since August 2018 (AKA”Medic”).”

The search engine optimization community. There’s not any shortage of discussion over the search engine optimization community in the online discussion forums and on websites around this upgrade. Some individuals claimed to have dropped over% of the Google traffic that was organic, while some did from this update.

What to do if you’re hit. Google has provided advice on what to consider if you’re negatively impacted by a core update previously.
